Dr. Hamza Basel Hamida is a Lecturer-Researcher in the Sustainable Built Environment Research Group at Knowledge Centre NoorderRuimte, Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen, the Netherlands. In April 2026, Dr. Hamida completed his PhD on “Solar Active Facade Design and Development” at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), the Netherlands. He holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Construction Engineering and Management from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, in 2020. He obtained his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with Honors in Civil Engineering from KFUPM in 2018. Dr. Hamida has published various articles on advanced energy transition and the sustainable built environment. His research interests include solar energy in the built environment, Building Information Modelling (BIM) adoption in design and construction management, energy simulation and economic analysis, and participatory research. Currently, he is involved in several Dutch and European research projects at Hanze University of Applied Sciences focusing on building renovation passports, data integration for the energy transition, and circular building construction. He previously served as a member of the PhD Council at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, TU Delft, and as a member of the TU Delft Ethics Review Board.
