Smart Materials, Smart Systems

Activiteit: Invited talk

Description

This seminar presents a multidisciplinary research path connecting materials science, nanotechnology, and sensor systems. It begins with earlier work on the development and characterization of functional materials, focusing on lead-free piezoelectric materials. The second part introduces ongoing research within the Sensors & Smart Systems group at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, outlining its main research areas and applications. The third part highlights recent collaborative projects on flexible piezoresistive and optical fiber sensors, as well as the use of machine learning to predict material behaviour and improve sensor performance. The seminar concludes with an overview of current objectives aimed at linking smart materials with smart systems for applications in healthcare, renewable energy, and smart monitoring.
