Description
This activity concerns the supervision and assessment of a master thesis titled ‘Intention-based piano pedagogy: Bridging the gap between tradition and recent scientific insights’ by Bastiaan van der Waals, professor of piano pedagogy at the Royal Conservatoire, The Hague. Supervision concentrated on recent neuroscientific advances that the researcher was attempting to incorporate in his method of teaching, in particular the concepts of ideomotor learning, dual-stream perception and procedural learning. After having being assessed as ‘satisfactory’ by two supervisors, the student was allowed to defend his thesis on June 20, 2019 before an international jury chaired by Paul Craenen and consisting of jury members Matthias Heyman, Mary Lennon and Karin Johansson.Periode | 20 jun. 2019 |
