Abstract

Background: Malnutrition is an important risk factor for adverse postoperative outcomes such as infection and delayed wound healing, often resulting in longer hospital stay and higher readmission and mortality rates. The aim of this study is to assess the relationship between the risk for malnutrition prior to elective vascular surgery and postoperative complications. Methods: In this observational cross-sectional study, elective vascular surgery patients were included from January 2015 until November 2018. Included were percutaneous, carotid, endovascular, peripheral bypass, abdominal, lower extremity amputation, and other interventions.
