Abstract

The tangible impacts of climate change are already unfolding, as extreme weather events, rising
sea levels, and disruptions to ecosystems become increasingly prevalent. The urgency to
address this complex challenge is underscored by the consensus among experts that climate
change poses a substantial threat to the intricate balance of our planet’s systems (Calvin et al.,
2023).
In response to the escalating risks posed by climate change, there has been a growing emphasis
on climate change adaptation. The IPCC defines adaptation as “the process of adjustment to
actual or expected climate and its effects. In human systems, adaptation seeks to moderate or
avoid harm or exploit beneficial opportunities. In some natural systems, human intervention may
facilitate adjustment to expected climate and its effects” (Mimura, 2014).
