Networked Innovation in Classical Music

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The field of classical music is changing rapidly. It is faced with exciting challenges and questions, such as the development of innovative concert settings or building new audience engagement. The research activities, including desk research, a questionnaire and conversations with stakeholders, are part of a research network led by the University of Sheffield's Performer and Audience Research Centre (SPARC) and the Maastricht Centre for the Innovation of Classical Music (MCICM) aimed at gathering responses in the Northern Netherlands as well as similar regions in the UK and Austria. With these research activities, the network hopes to spark conversation about what classical music currently encompasses and its potential role in various local contexts.
