Distinguished and recognized for its theoretical underpinnings, effectiveness and national scale which the Groningen Active Living Model operates. From 320 candidate projects, GALM was selected as best practise and winner of the prestigious award. GALM aims at sednetary and underactive older adults aged 55-65 yrs. By means of specially developed recruitment phase, older adults join a fitness test and an introductory program thereafter. From 1995-nowadays over 1,1 million older adulst are visited door-to-door. Over 110.000 older adults have joined the fitness test and over 100.000 enrolled in the GALM recreational sport activity program.
