Mark focuses on users in space and organization. Better buildings for people and better coherence between spaces and services. His work has a focus on positive change: by improving spaces and services, organizations will perform better. Over the years, the research team has combined disciplines such as facility management, real estate, (interior) architecture, building physics, medicine, nursing, human movement sciences, organization science, psychology, and spatial sciences. With his team Mark is involved in research projects of education, healthcare, offices, penitentiaries, and train stations. The team of 18 researchers is particularly interested in the health and well-being of users in the built environment. Projects are on the crossroads of research, practice, and education. He is actively involved in various facility management projects and is also an invited speaker to conferences and master classes relevant to the field. By doing so, with his team he seeks to advance and disseminate knowledge and innovations in facility management regionally, nationally, and internationally.
