Research interests

My PhD-research (2017-2022) focused on conversations among inhabitants of North-East Groningen, who are confronted with damage due to gas extraction and/or strengthening measures to make their houses more earthquake resilient. Conversations between inhabitants and representants of insitutions are another study object. Aim of this research project is, first, to study how trust and distrust are being discussed, how trust is built, rebuilt or eroded; second, to find out what constitutes 'resilient talk' or what impedes resilience, and how (lack of) resilience manifests in interaction.
