I am a senior Lecturer-Researcher at the Institute of Engineering of Hanze University of Applied Sciences, where I am a member of the research group on Sensors and Smart Systems. My main teaching activities are related to Robotics and Electronics for Engineering students (bachelor level), but I am also involved with the Master Smart Systems Engineering and supervise students working on research and graduation projects.
My background is in Electrical Engineering. My main expertise is in control of mobile robots, which was the research topic of my PhD thesis. My master project was about fuzzy control of electric drives to use a three-phase induction motor as a generator, but I also worked on a brushless DC motor controller to propel a boat. Before joining academia, I worked for a company as an engineer for 4 years with design and maintenance of industrial automation machines.
I was involved with educational robotics for more than 10 years, tutoring students and as a member of technical and organizing committees of robotics competitions. In 2020/2021, I was a member of the team that developed and organized the first RoboCupJunior Soccer Simulation competition.
