Evert Jan Hengeveld is onderzoeker op het gebied van biogas. Meer in het bijzonder deed hij een techno-economische evaluatie van biogas infrastructuur, een biogas grid in het kader van een promotie onderzoek. Het onderzoek werd gedaan in samenwerking met bedrijven in bv het project Flexigas. Als promotor trad op professor A.A.Broekhuis van de Rijks Universiteit Groningen in een samenwerking met Dr. W.J.T. van Gemert van de Hanzehogeschool.
