Research interests

Persons with Severe or Profound Intellectual and Motor Disabilities are at great risk of having unrecognized and untreated physical health problems. This group is characterized by the ‘combination’ of severe motor disabilities and severe or profound intellectual disabilities. In addition, this group suffers from sensory impairments (visual impairment and hearing impairment) and many health problems. Because of their profound intellectual disability, they can’t express their needs adequately. Furthermore, due to the complex impairments they are severely limited in tolerating regular diagnostic. There is a lack of specific instruments adapted to this severely disabled group. My PHD project focuses on gaining  knowledge about the prevalence of physical health problems and the measurements methods. In order to enhance quality of life.
