Researcher at the Professorship of Spatial Transformations with a research focus on collaborative planning for climate change adaptation. In my research, I focus on the way through which stakeholders can collaborate and work together on climate change adaptations, particularly focussing in the opportunities, barriers and instruments for collaboration.
In my research, I use a mixed methods approach consisting of interviews and spatial analyses in order to determine 1) the spatial dimension of climate adaptation, 2) the stakeholders required for succesful climate change adaptation, 3) the barriers and opportunities for collaboration between these stakeholders and 4) the instruments that could facilitate a spatial and institutional collaboration between these stakeholders.
GIS has a central role in my research, as I believe a spatial issue like climate change adaptation can not be solved without thoroughly examining the spatial effects of climate change, the spatial implications of adaptation and the perspective of the people who occupy and use these spaces.
