Organisation profile
Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen wants to contribute to a healthy and sustainable society. By conducting applied research in collaboration with SMEs and larger companies, we develop new and tangible biobased products, processes and activities that better fit the market demand. The Research Centre Biobased Economy brings together all the knowledge and experience relating to the biobased economy.
A biobased economy is an economy that is based on green raw materials (from crops and residual flows from agriculture and the food industry) instead of fossil-based materials. It also involves a different approach to product development. The raw materials and components used are already taken into account during the design phase of a product, so that they can later be reused. This reduces the amount of waste produced, saving energy and resulting in less pollution.
The research centre consists out of the following professorships.
