Family Care
The transition from welfare state to participatory society in the Netherlands is in full swing; there is a great demand for help and support from family in the care of loved ones. This development has major consequences for families and family relationships. The risks and consequences are already becoming clear; 'overburdening of family caregivers' has become an important social theme.
Families need recognition for their roles and concerns, families need joint support in the performance of their duties as family caregivers. To provide this support, we will need to discover and understand the "unique family story".
The Family Care program line aims to contribute to the development of a more systemic approach to care situations. Using applied scientific research, we want to gain insight into the effects of family care on the health and well-being of families. Based on these insights, we work on interventions that provide families with the support they need to survive while staying healthy.
