Organisation profile
This research group contributes to letting children grow up without violence in the northern region and to combatting unsafe situations in families by discussing the situation sooner and better and to put an end to an unsafe situation more quickly. The research group conducts research which contributes to an effective, beneficial, innovative, sustainable and comprehensive approach to child abuse.
Within the comprehensive theme of child abuse the focus of the research group is on:
Primary prevention: discussing the downsides of parenthood; breaking the taboo surrounding child abuse; supporting all parents in their parenting.
Secondary prevention: supporting vulnerable parents in their parenting (reducing risks, enhancing protective factors) early signalling and suitable treatment; reinforcing action and attitude of the professional (to be); working with reporting codes; talking about (suspicions of) child abuse; working together across disciplines and learning from each other; making good use of experience-based expertise; room for the perspective of everyone involved (perpetrator/victim/bystander); experience-based knowledge as well as knowledge based on research and practical experience.
