What is the real transformative power of local renewable energy initiatives? Can community energy play a key role in accelerating the energy transition to renewable energy sources? These are the questions that IBS senior researcher and lecturer Dr. Beata Kviatek addressed at the International Conference “New Pathways for Community Energy and Storage”.
The conference was organised by the Universities of Groningen and Twente, and took place on 6-7 June 2019 at Energy Academy Europe at the Zernike Campus. The event brought together researchers from and practitioners interested in the societal dimensions of energy technology and the technological aspects of social innovation.
Dr. Beata Kviatek, affiliated with Centre of Expertise Energy and Marian van Os Centre for Entrepreneurship, carries research on social aspects of energy transition, (social) innovation, sustainability, and new economic realities. She is teaching in the Master International Business and Management and Master Energy for Society. The two-day international conference is part of the research project on community responsible innovation in sustainable energy, funded by the Dutch Research Council.
