Description

Factors associated with physical activity among patients eligible for cardiac rehabilitation: a qualitative study

To optimize recovery following a cardiac event, Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) is often recommended. Currently, CR is mostly offered as a standardized program, consisting of exercise therapy, psychosocial support and lifestyle behavior change. An important part of modifying lifestyle behavior within CR is optimization of Physical Activity (PA) through an exercise-based treatment program. Optimizing PA levels is important since small increases in PA can result in significant risk reduction of cardiac-related events. To optimize PA levels, it is important to understand which factors can influence physical activity from the viewing point of several stakeholders involved as this can help tailor CR in the future.
