    Description

For older and vulnerable patients being admitted to hospital can have a great impact. During a stay in hospital music can possibly reduce pain, fear and anxiety in patients. In a joint research project the research group and the UMCG have studied what live music can do for patients. In this study musicians worked with patients during their stay in hospital and where possible with the nurses caring for them too. The musicians used person-centred improvisation as well as (arrangements of) existing repertoire. The aim of the research of the research group was the development of this innovative artistic practice and the aim of the UMCG research was the measuring of the effects of these musical interventions.
