Description
Point-of-Care Technologies (POCT) allow end users, such as healthcare professionals and citizens, to accurately perform real-time, lab-quality diagnostic tests within minutes. This can be achieved by analyzing tiny quantities of bodily fluids, e.g. urine, swabs, interstitial fluid or serum/blood, using POCT devices that can be deployed close to the patients, e.g. in a hospital or healthcare center, or even citizens at home. Some of the well-known POCT applications include blood glucose testing and rapid COVID-19 tests that have been widely used during the corona pandemic. In addition, POCT can be used for remote patient monitoring using wearable devices and diagnostic systems.
