PED Thematic Deep-dive #3

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventParticipation in workshop, seminar, course

Description

The focus of this deep-dive, facilitated by the ESF-staff, is on digital tooling to design PEDs, to predict and control the energy flows in a PED and to monitor PEDs and evaluate their effectiveness. All this to accelarete PED development in relation to the Mission of 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030. We will give you the first overview of digital twins and decisionmaking tools followed by three pitches explaining how digital tools have been applied in the respective projects. Followed by a roundtable discussion on how projects could use digtal tools and what the role is for PED. After a short break we will enter breakout session with deep-dives into the digtal twin concept, the role of digital twins and decision making tools in PED. We will address the goals of tooling, boundary conditions, variables to be included, methods, time scales, and the pivotal role of data in digital tools. This will lead to shared views on added value, challenges to overcome and development pathways. Finally, we will wrap up the discussion and investigate the role of research & innovation to speed up the applicability of digital tools.
