Healthcare is a field that has introduced a lot of innovation and technology, in particular the use of medical technology (e.g., in operating rooms and diagnostics). At the same time, the administrative processes around health care are complex and would benefit from further improved digital transformation. The use of digitalization and information technology is seen as an important solution to improve care, the transition towards healthy living, optimize the workforce and reduce the overall increasing costs of healthcare. Health informatics is a complex and exciting discipline resulting in a diverse landscape where (information) technology, practical flow works, financial and payment structures, and legal requirements converge. In this track we want to reflect on and review how healthcare can benefit from digital transformation. We want to understand how healthcare processes can be improved in this manner, given their specific restrictions such as privacy requirements (GDPR/AVG) and the generally closed EHR-vendor environments. We will focus on “information processing” and not on the medical/diagnostic domain (such as “image processing”). Also, we encourage contributions from applications within the care situations such as elderly homes or even the home setting. We welcome contributions with a strong practical focus, including but not limited to: • Data Driven Healthcare • Digital / medical literacy • Interoperability • openEHR • Point-of-care-technology (POCT) • Personal Health Environment (PGO) • Robotics • Sensor technology • Wearables
