Description

Conversation Analysis for Beginners Workshop.
The Department of Social Sciences is holding a series of Conversation Analysis workshops to suit everyone from complete beginners to established researchers looking for some specialist top-up.
Each workshop will be led by CA experts, and feature a good deal of hands-on data analysis, group work and feedback, all in an informal but hard-working atmosphere.
Intrigued by Conversation Analysis (CA), but not sure how it can be used in research? Or perhaps you've heard about it but not actually tried it? We'll assume no previous familiarity with CA, and we'll go from the ground up, explaining how CA is different from other forms of discourse analysis, how it identifies action in talk, and how it might be useful in a range of basic and applied research projects.
