The valuable professional and the three pillars of honours education With the Windesheim Honours College, Windesheim established a multidisciplinary and challenging HBO+ degree programme for socially engaged, talented and motivated students with diverse backgrounds. A vital characteristic of the WHC degree programme is that the combination of applied research and project management provides a future oriented professional profile. Moreover, this professional profile is explicitly put in the context of sustainable development. The workshop connects the valuable professional to the three pillars of honours education: creating community, enhancing academic competence and offering freedom. After a short introduction, students will bring in examples of how each pillar is put into practice at the college. The participants join one of the three ‘round tables’. Thereafter each ‘table’ will be asked to briefly share their findings in terms of inspiring ingredients for developing valuable professionals at our university.
