Description

Worldwide, the mean age increases. In the nearby future health care professionals will face new challenges, resulting in professionals in the health care and social sector who are on an ongoing quest to define their professional role and diagnostic domains. Due to the onset of new health problems, new technology and on behalf of cost efficiency, health care professionals reflect on their role and the role of professionals in adjoining diagnostic health care domains. This may be the starting point of the development towards a T-shaped professional. Working interdisciplinary is required in order to provide effective care. Interdisciplinary reflections on professional roles and domains require different competences from professionals and might also influence the perspective on their own professional role. In order to deal with these challenges, at Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen an innovation lab ‘The Future Health Professional’ was created, where students, health professionals, lecturers and researchers can learn, co-create and develop new good practices in an interdisciplinary setting. In this workshop, the participants of this innovation lab would like to explore the role of the T-shaped allied health care professional. The starting point will be the health related questions of the future client or citizen.
