Technology has quickly become a de facto element in formal and informal learning. As quickly, the question rises how learners make sense of complex learning environments such as simulations and serious games. Self-regulatory and metacognitive skills are needed to learn effective and efficiently, but how do you include this in the design of the learning environment? Various approaches for supporting learners in games have been proposed: some using machine learning and modeling; others using specific interventions. In this session Eelco Braad (Eindhoven University of Technology & Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen) will share the latest insights from personalised and future-ready game-based learning.
